Every year, more than fifty million animals are killed just for fashion. Most of the fur people wear is imported from other countries, mainly China. What many people don't know is that most Chinese fur is purposefully mislabeled, so it is impossible to tell what type of animal's fur you are really wearing. Fur farmers use gassing, electrocution, and neck breaking to kill animals for their fur. Most leather comes from developing countries such as India, where animals routinely have their throats slit and skin ripped off while still conscious. In Australia, sheep have large chunks of their skin and flesh from their backsides removed in a process called "mulesing". There aren't any federal laws that protect the millions of animals held in these farms.
